Sony will continue to accelerate its efforts across the Sony Group to create both attractive 3D hardware and content, and provide new forms of 3D enjoyment.
At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Sony have announced their new line of LCD TVs which support 3D functionality.
The new Bravia range includes 38 models ranging in size from 22 inches all the way up to 60 inches. Depending on the model you go for the receiver and shutter glasses may need to be purchased separately.
The 3D effect is created by showing each eye a separate frame and this is achieved by syncing the shutter glasses with the receiver so they effectively close off one eye for a frame then switch to the other fast enough that you can't detect it.
This creates a pronounced 3D effect as your brain puts the two images together. The new line also have LED backlighting, 240 Hz Motionflow and integrated Wi-Fi for internet access.
Sony is also showing their 24.5-inch 3D OLED television although 24.5-inch isn't that impresive. Editor from Engadget HD has to admit he's "being blown away once more by the sheer vibrancy and clarity of the output."
