OLED televisions do not require a traditional backlight to light up the display and so they use less power and the television gets slimmed down to become a much thinner version of the old bulky LCD or PLASMA television.

LG OLED_TV - LG, the world's second-biggest TV brand, announced a 15-inch LG OLED HDTV in August 2009, releasing it to the Korean market in December of the same year and it will be in UK stores in April this year.

Samsung OLED_TV was previously announced by The Korean electronics giant that they planned to offer a commercially available large OLED display by 2010. They announced 14.1-inch and 31-inch OLED HDTV's that are production ready.
